AECP Level 1 - Final Challenge (Packaging)

For my AECP Level 1 final challenge, I created a packaging design for "His and Her" card sets using recycled materials.

The materials I repurposed included a kraft paper bag from Black Sheep (a restaurant in Mauritius), plastic packaging from stamp sets, and a pasta box. I designed both the "His" and "Her" packaging with the same concept: a book-style box tied with twine for a cohesive and elegant look.

To begin, I sketched the measurements, creating a base box and a cover with a window to showcase the cards inside. The base dimensions were 5x6 inches with 1-inch walls, making the box slightly larger than A2 size as shown below.

The flap was cut at 7x6 inches with 1-inch side flaps, then scored and folded to create a cover with a centered window.

I crafted the base and flap from the pasta box and used the kraft paper bag to cover them, ensuring a smooth finish by gluing and folding each section carefully.

For the window, I repurposed the plastic packaging from stamp sets, attaching it securely with double-sided tape. The flap and base were joined, and a long piece of twine was added to wrap around the box and tie it closed with a bow.

For the "His" packaging, all materials were recycled, while for the "Her" packaging, I substituted kraft cardstock for the pasta box and paper bag due to limited supplies. Both boxes were adorned with leftover card elements, creating a harmonious connection between the packaging and the cards.

This project challenged my creativity and resourcefulness, combining recycled materials and design precision to create a functional and aesthetic final piece. Thank you for following along my AECP journey—your support means the world!
